May Model of the Month – Shenelle

We are thrilled to have Shenelle as our May Model of the Month – Shenelle is not new to modeling but has recently gained traction in the Fit market in the New Year! We are so happy to have Shenelle on our roster, and we’re excited to introduce her to you!

1. Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ and have lived through out the state all of my life. Growing up people were always curious about where I am from because my last name is French  and it actually came from my grandfather. A WWII vet, born in Martinique and later emigrated to the US.

2. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?
I’ve recently gotten out of my comfort zone and learned how to ride a motorcycle!! In my spare time, I enjoy roller skating, making jewelry with crystals, and exploring learning opportunities that will allow me to further my education in the supply chain & logistics industry.

3. Favorite fit clients from the biz?
My most memorable Fit clients are Rebdolls and OJG! I felt comfortable expressing my opinion and providing feedback to both clients.  I also enjoyed working with the Fashion Design students at Marist and seeing all the hard work in bringing their designs to life.

4. Dreams/goals, anything else of interest (any fit dream clients?)?
It would be a dream to fit for Lane Bryant! I would love to be a voice over actor, model for plus designers in NYFW, featured in a sci-fi movie with zombies and continue to work towards my career and personal goals.

5. Fit/modeling career highlights?
The highlight of my journey thus far is landing the opportunity to be a “model nurse” for a Pharma company.

6. How did you get into fit modeling?
A really good friend shared a casting call from another modeling agency looking for Fit models! And the rest is herstory!

April Model of the Month – Matt K.

We are thrilled to have Matt as our April Model of the Month! Starting off as an in-house fit model, Matt has now gained additional fit experience as well as branched out into many new areas of modeling including Print and Commercial. We are so excited to have Matt on our board and look forward to seeing what is to come!

  1. Where are you from?

I am from Troy, NY and I currently live in Union City, NJ which is just minutes from NYC!

  1. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?

Interior design has always been a passion of mine as well as upcycling discarded furniture and items. I love breathing new life into objects and sometimes creating completely new and unexpected things from them. I have several pieces of furniture and décor I have created this way and love that they are all unique.

  1. Favorite fit clients from the biz?

EXPRESS. Everyone I have worked with there has been super helpful in building my fit modeling career and I have learned a lot from them. Memorizing terms and vernacular is important, but they don’t really sink in until they are put to use and you really see how clothing is supposed to fit.

  1. Dreams/goals, anything else of interest (any fit dream clients?)?

I would love to work with Calvin Klein. It’s the brand that I remember most as a child and is the one that still resonates with me today. I love that their clothes can range from casual to professional and it would be a dream to fit for them or be in one of their campaigns.

  1. Fit/modeling career highlights?

I love the diversity of projects in my modeling career. Some highlights include a commercial for a vitamin brand, e-comm shoots for various clothing brands, print, and of course fit! I particularly find fit a useful tool in my everyday life. I use what I have learned to help me pick out clothes that actually fit correctly.

  1. How did you get into fit modeling?

I used to work in a small store in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC. They would have some of their clothes custom made and they would often use me to fit the items. I didn’t know anything about fit modeling at the time but I have been pursuing it as a career ever since.

March Model of the Month – Erika Nova

This month’s Model of the Month is the beautiful and experienced Erika Nova! Starting off as a runway and print model, Erika now finds herself with a handful of consistent fit clients, including Aerie, Hanky Panky, American Eagle and more! Keep reading to learn more about Erika and how she got started.

Where are you from?

I was born in Miami, FL and have been living in NYC for over a decade.

What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?

Though I obtained my bachelors degree in Broadcast & Print Journalism, my dream was always to become a model and artist. While going to school, I got my start as a Runway model in South Florida doing shows for Chanel, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen and other top designers. It was when I moved to NYC that I expanded into the Fit, Print and Commercial world, recently booking a National Commercial for Burlington which gave me the opportunity to begin my acting career and the ability to become a member of SAG-AFTRA. I speak fluent Spanish and am currently working on perfecting my French.

Favorite fit clients from the biz?

American Eagle, Aerie and Hanky Panky are just a few of the fit clients that have been a dream to work with! From the moment I met each tech team at Aerie and American Eagle, each and every person has been incredibly kind, respectful and just wonderful to work with. I especially love how the Aerie and AE teams have been so willing to share feedback with me or help me whenever I have a concern or question. They are really caring, and always take the time to help which only enables me to become a better fit model.

Dreams/goals, anything else of interest? Any fit dream clients?

Although I’m sure it’s every model’s dream, I would love to fit and shoot for Victoria’s Secret! This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Now that they have become more size inclusive, I feel like I got a shot!

Fit/modeling career highlights?

One fit modeling experience highlight that I’ll always cherish was a time I had been the showroom/print model for a NYC ready-to-wear designer for a few years, and suddenly they realized I fit the clothes so well, they had me start fitting for them as well. Needless to say, they kept me really busy shooting their lookbooks, and doing their fit and showroom work. Walking the runway at dozens of NYFW shows have also become some of the highlights of my career as a model.

How did you get into fit modeling?

I will forever be grateful for the bridal lingerie designer ‘The Giving Bride’ who gave me the opportunity to fit and shoot her collections over a decade ago in NYC. It was because of her that I got my start as a fit model which led me to BiCoastal Management, and the ability to work with so many more wonderful clients, big and small.

January Model of the Month -Alaina F

We are thrilled to have Fit model, Alaina F, as our January Model of the Month! Alaina is not new to modeling but recently has gained traction in the Fit market now in the new year. We are so happy to have Alaina on our Fit roster and excited to introduce her to you!

1. Where are you from?
I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, but grew up in Boulder County, Colorado (a mountain girl). I moved to Brooklyn in 2010.

2. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?

I got my B.A. in Music Composition and Creative Writing, and my M.F.A. in Poetry. When I’m not modeling, I am writing music for contemporary opera and choirs. I play classical piano (I’ve been playing my whole life), Celtic harp, speak French, love to rock climb and do yoga. I’m passionate about cooking — both for the pleasure of it, and as a means of having a direct hand in my health.

3. Favorite clients from the biz?
Christopher John Rogers is my first repeat fit client and it has been a dream so far! I have already learned so much and truly aspire to continue growing.

4. Dream clients, goals, or anything else of interest?
Nili Lotan, Rag and Bone, Oscar de la Renta, Christine Alcalay and Marchesa to name a few.

5. Fit/modeling career highlights?
I just finished a round of developmental/production fit modeling with Christopher John Rogers! What an incredible experience — his team is focused, thoughtful, and kind. I loved how everything was considered — fabric consumption, technique, the garment’s functionality, the vision of the piece, and the narrative amongst the pieces. It felt very much akin to constructing a piece of music — weighing the performer’s ability with the desired emotional experience of the music itself, the venue where it will be performed, and the timeline for creation.

6. How did you get into modeling?
I became a model out of a natural interest in fashion. When I moved to New York in 2010, I walked into Joanna Baum’s storefront in Williamsburg, Sir, and loved how her clothing was tailored and elegant. It was thoughtful clothing! I asked right then if we could do a modeling trade, and then ended up doing some catalogue shoots for her. Similarly, I found Rebecca Shoneveld at an eco-conscious bridal pop-up, she later asked me to do showroom modeling. Rebecca introduced me to Zero Waste Daniel, who let me borrow some of his recycled dresses for my music performances. I’ve mostly worked with smaller boutique designers because I love the down-to-earth, collaborative experience — my clients are people who are passionate in their work and prioritize treating their people well. I also have done some commercial acting — the most recent was a spot in an American Express commercial.

November Model of the Month – Alfredo C

We are thrilled to have Brawn Male model, Alfredo C, as our November Model of the Month! Alfredo is new to modeling but has gained clients and experience very quickly – he is now a proven Fit for multiple brands like Walmart and Uniqlo, as well as a face you may see on websites like Kohls or New Balance. We are so happy to have Alfredo on our boards and are so excited to see what is to come!

1. Where are you from?
I was born in Bari, Italy. When I was 10, my family and I moved to Costa Rica, and grew up there until I moved to NYC about 6 years ago.

2. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?
Cooking is my passion in life. I have been cooking for several years, working in Michelin star restaurants. I have now become a professional personal chef, and I love trying out new recipes or making homemade bread or pasta in my free time. I also love hanging out with my wife and daughter and making new memories.

3. Favorite clients from the biz?
Walmart is my first Fit client and has taught me so much about the industry, as well as fitting terms and feedback. I have also enjoyed fitting with Uniqlo and learning about their different fabrics and technology. I have recently started doing Print modeling as well, starting with Kohls, and it has been a lot of fun to travel to different studios and learn a new skill set.

4. Dream clients, goals, or anything else of interest?
Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, and Armani are all dream clients for me, being Italian!

5. Fit/modeling career highlights?
Being able to see new places in the US (recently Portland and currently Boston) for work has been such a pleasure for me, and seeing myself on websites I shop at is pretty cool too! I also love shopping in-store and seeing the pieces I fit and are being sold nation-wide.

6. How did you get into modeling?
My wife (who works at the agency) was having trouble finding the right 2x Men’s fit model for Walmart. One day she pulled me off the couch and took my measurements just to see if I could be close, and I was right on spec. I’ve since gained more fit clients and have expanded into other divisions like Commercial and Print. I am very thankful for the Bicoastal Team helping me build my career!

September Model of the Month – Vida D.

We are so excited to have our up-and-coming Missy fit model, Vida D, as our September Model of the Month. With years of experience being an actress and commercial/print modeling, Vida now has a couple of new fit clients under her belt. Continue reading more to learn more about where Vida’s goals and her journey as a model.

1. Where are you from?
Born in California raised in NYC. I’m truly Bicoastal!

2. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?
I am a mother, former ballet dancer, yoga enthusiast and actress.

3. Favorite fit clients from the biz?
It’s so fun to wear a strap on belly pad for maternity wear, I personally wore a Pea in the Pod wedding dress (a maternity brand marquee has) when I was 7 months pregnant many years ago, so it brings back memories of that incredible time in my life. My son now attends the same high school that Calvin Klein went to, and its a privilege to work as a fit model for the iconic brands Calvin Klein and Karl Lagerfeld at G-iii. We are all connected!

4. Dreams/goals, anything else of interest?
I would love to live in NYC and Upstate NY surrounded by plants and trees and to work for a sustainable brand who loves nature and luxury as much as I do!

5. Fit/modeling career highlights?
It’s a pleasure to bring clothes to life and to step into a variety of looks that I would never wear in my every day life. You can see how acting is an asset in this business, you are personifying all the different roles women are in society.

6. How did you get into fit modeling?
Years ago I was working on a commercial and I met a beautiful Beyonce-esque woman who told me about fit modeling and how lucrative it was. It showed me that fit is an inclusive industry and there is demand for all types of bodies where as before I was used to a one size fits all mentality. Fit is truly a diverse and inclusive industry before it was trendy to be so. The traits that one may be insecure about may be the very thing that makes one unique and valuable in the business. Love and accept yourself and things work out!

July Fit Model of the Month – Thea G.

We are thrilled to have the dynamic Thea as our July Model of the Month! Starting off as a figure-drawing model, Thea now finds himself fitting with clients like Eckhaus Latta and Coach. Thea is now trailblazing in the fashion industry – and we are happy to be a part of his journey!

Where are you from?

I’m from Cos Cob, CT just outside NYC.

What are you into… studies, hobbies, special skills, etc?

I love the outdoors and being in nature- taking care of my garden, hiking, swimming, sailing, spending time with friends, dancing, playing music, and making theater. In addition to modeling, I’m an artist (voice actor) and body worker/healer (Alexander Technique). I like my work in all these areas to inform one another in positive ways.

Favorite fit clients from the biz?

Coach, Marc Jacobs, I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Mike Eckhaus and the design team at Eckhaus Latta for over five seasons in fit, ecomm, and runway.

Dreams/goals? Anything else of interest?

I’d love to continue to collaborate with artists of all kinds in in new and interesting ways. It could look like integrating my healing practice with the artistic relationships I’m building or finding ways to contribute, build and play to make the world a more just, beautiful and strange place. As a queer person I’d love to continue to collaborate with artists that challenge binaries and break barriers in their work.

Fit modeling career highlights?

Hearing designers squeal with delight as their design sketches/dreams of garments turn into living walking breathing pieces. Co-creating and inhabiting the characters that wear these garments..not only who they are but what they do, where they find themselves at this particular moment. As an actor I love getting to play that quiet mysterious role by simply standing and walking in a prototype near completion.

How did you get into fit modeling?

I had done work as a figure drawing model, and had modeled for some fashion classes at art schools I used to work at, and really liked it. Later I responded to an Instagram model call, met the team at Eckhaus Latta and the rest is history.

June Model of the Month – Kyle

We are so happy to have Kyle as our June Model of the Month! Starting off on the runway at Full Figured Fashion Week, XXL model Kyle has branched out into many new areas of modeling including Print, Commercial and Fit. We are so excited to have Kyle on our board and look forward to seeing what is to come!

1. Where are you from?

3. Favorite fit clients from the biz?

My favorite fit client I would say would have to be New Balance. Getting that opportunity to go to Boston and see their headquarters was amazing. New Balance in the past couple of years has really taken over the sports community. They have partnered with up and coming artist and designers to create these different color ways and styles of their previous sneaker models. I can see myself working with them more in the future in a greater capacity.

4. Dream client, goals, anything else of interest?

When I started modeling I didn’t have any real goals I just was doing it because my cousin told me I should – but since starting, I want to be the face of a major brand. Seeing a big guy with a beard and some tattoos would look pretty cool in Times Square if you ask me. I really want to work with Puma, New Balance again (on a campaign) and John Elliot. Nike has always been a dream but I think they have enough big guys these days!

5. Fit/modeling career highlights?

Since starting this journey I will say doing a national campaign with Bonobos has probably been my best highlight . My friends and family seeing my photos in stores and subways was just an amazing experience, then being able to see myself was just a euphoric feeling.

6. How did you get into fit modeling?

I got into modeling because of my cousin. I was joking around on Facebook about getting into beard modeling, she saw the post and took it serious and suggested I try walking in a runway show that someone she knew was hosting. I first walked in Full Figured Fashion Week and since then things have taken off.

Fit Model of the Month – Veronica T

We are thrilled to have the gorgeous and talented Veronica T as our Fit Model of the Month! Starting off as a Print model, she has now found herself #bookedandbusy as an apparel, swim and lingerie plus fit model. Continue reading to learn more about Veronica, her hobbies, and how she got started!

1. Where are you from?

Born and raised in NJ.

2. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?

Veronica T represented by BICOASTAL MGMT

My #1 hobby and passion is dancing! At this time, it is particularly Salsa dancing. I also enjoy yoga, bike riding outdoors, and cooking. Astrology is also a hobby of mine. I consider myself a spiritual person.

3. Favorite fit clients from the biz?

Fashion to Figure, the head of technical design and designer have taken me under their wings and given me extensive training. They value my input very much and we are a great team. They also keep me very busy.

4. Dreams/goals, anything else of interest?

A dream goal of mine is to be a fit model for brands like Zara, Victoria’s Secret and H&M mainly because these brands are so influential in today’s culture. I don’t believe that grading up from a size 2 or 4 does the average American woman who is a size 14 any justice! Same thing goes for fitting on a form.

5. Fit career highlights?

A highlight for me has been my extensive training as well as fit etiquette. I know when to speak up and when to listen. I truly want nothing more than a brand to flourish when I am their fit model. Seeing positive reviews on garments that I know I’ve helped fit gives me a sense of pride.

6. How did you get into fit modeling?

I have been represented as a print model with Bicoastal Management for a couple of years and Malissa and Angel thought that I had the right specs for fit modeling so we gave it a shot. Happy to say everything is working out great! I love my Fit modeling career and can’t wait to grow!

1. Where are you from?

Hi there! I know it’s a model rarity but I am born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.

2. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?

I have gotten back into my art and have been working on my children’s book story boarding/ sketching. I’ve also revisited rollerblading and have been steadily speeding my way through my Irish step (both soft shoe and hard shoe) dance lessons.

3. Favorite fit clients from the biz?

I have definitely been enjoying fitting with the Madewell team! So a fun and such a smart crew. I also have enjoyed all my time fitting for my whole range of clients from Narciso Rodriguez, to Crye, to the students at Marist college! It’s definitely been enjoyable and different experience all around.

4. Dreams/goals, anything else of interest (any fit dream clients?)?

Dreams of mine is definitely to be able to work and/or collaborate with Thom Browne, Nicholas Ghesquière and with Chloé (the brand). Fit dream clients would be Michael Kors, Frame, Johnathan Simkhai, Mother, Khaite and so many more! I just enjoy being a part of the design process and everyone has their own techniques and handling it’s such a pleasure to watch and be a part of it!

5. Fit career highlights?

Fit career Highlight, being the model used for a Narciso runway collection! Not only a learning experience but just wow! Enjoyable to see where it started and then to see all the garments grace the runway!

6. How did you get into fit modeling?

How did I get into fit modeling…It all started with a go see 😉
